May 24, 2024 - High Speed Taxi Test

For the first time in years, Annie operates 100% intact! And with that comes the final test before the FAA inspection, a series of high speed taxi runs to ensure everything works!

With the installation of the flap, the final ground test finally could take place! As Edgar had much to do with it’s repair, we elected to honor him, Annie-style!

Final concerns and other details are discussed between the flight crew and the maintenance staff.

One last lookover before the test. I think all members gave Annie one last go-over before the engine start.

Taxiing out. We ran a total of three runs down KLVK’s 5,200’ Rwy 25R. Major judos to the tower staff for sequencing traffic to give us the needed time!

She performed beautifully. The flaps got her light on her feet, flight controls kept us tracking well, we registered airspeed, and brakes did their braking-thing!!! Bravo Zulu!!!!

Taurus’ face says it all! All in attendance were grinning ear-to-ear at the successful run!!!

Final briefing, establishing aircraft’s current state and what systems needed to be looked at… plus a friendly reminder to not take her for a sightseeing flight. Haha

Taurus brings up the fuel levels. We figured 50% (60 US gallons) would be a good weight to work with.

Firing up!!!

30 inches of power to get the tail up, then back to 20 inches. That gave us a healthy 50 mph, just enough to put everything under a decent load!

Taxiing back in after the successful tests. Now it’s in the hands of the FAA inspector.

The success of getting Annie to this point was great coordination between the maintenance staff and flight crew! It has been a total team effort!
